On the morning of our event it may be that the conditions are ideal for this crossing with perfect visibility and calm tides or it may be that we encounter stormy seas and high winds. Either way this swim it is a challenging event with the water temps in the low 50’s or high 40's. All participants must have successfully completed an Alcatraz crossing in 2008 to be accepted. Swimmers are strongly recommended to continue their open-water training through December of this year. Extensive open-water swimming experience is mandatory. Swimmers that have competed in the Bridge to Bridge race, the Swim Around the Rock or the Touch and Go are encouraged to register for this event. Make this race your first goal for 2009.
