Swimmer Randy Perkins
From Seattle, Washington
An experienced, non-wetsuit, open water swimmer, Randy Perkins lives in Seattle and trains with Water World Swim in San Francisco, California for the challenging extreme cold water swim across the Strait of Magellan. The frigid and challenging waters around Alcatraz in San Francisco Bay as well as the Puget Sound in Seattle is where preparation for this swim has taken place. Training for the Strait of Magellan swim has included multiple Alcatraz crossings as well as year around skin swimming in the 50° waters of the Northwest. Training has also included: 10k open ocean swim, cross training with local triathlon team and full time professional swim coaching. Familiarity with rough open water condition also comes from experience as a scuba divemaster as well as being an Escape from Alcatraz triathlon finisher.
