Swim Course
Details
The 2.5 mile swim will begin in Aquatic Park. The course will be monitored by kayakers, lifeguards, and support boats. The competitors will swim to Alcatraz Island, touch the turn-around point, and continue back to Aquatic Park. There will be a boat with a race official on it that will mark the spot near the island. On the return, swimmers should aim about 200 yards left of the entrance to Aquatic Park; if you aim directly for the entrance, the ebb tide WILL sweep you past it. The swimmers will enter the cove at Aquatic Park and then head for the east side of the beach. Final swim instructions, including tide conditions and suggested landmarks for sightings, will be given in the pre-race briefing
Timing and Awards
This race will have a group start and timing will be done with a stop watch. Awards will be given to the first 3 places overall in two divisions - wetsuit and non-wetsuit. A special award will be given to the overall winner in the non-wetsuit division.
