On Saturday, July 12th 2008(U.S.C.G.approved) Water World Swim will host the third annual round trip Alcatraz swim. This swim will be a challenge for fast swimmers requiring a very strategic race plan. The spectacular 3.25 mile course will include changing tides and fast currents around the Rock. Excellent open water preparation for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

WHAT: An Elite class swim around Alcatraz and back—
the first of its kind in the world! The swim is an estimated 3.25 mile course in the treacherous waters of San Francisco Bay.
WHY: For the first time, the 2008 Summer Olympics will have an Open Water Swim category. The Swim Around the Rock © event is a tremendous training ground for competitors for the Olympics. Some of the world’s best swimmers are expected.
